Newborn Baby Milestones - Month by Month
Welcoming your little one into the world is a joy, sleepless nights, and countless adorable moments. The first year of your baby’s life is very important for your baby and for yourself as a parent. It will be filled with milestones and growth—both for your newborn and for you as parents.
Let’s take this journey month by month, sprinkled with humorous tips and some suggestions on sleeping, bathing, eating and shopping.
Month 1: The Fourth Trimester
What’s Happening
Your newborn spends their first month adjusting to life outside the womb. Expect plenty of cuddles, feeding every 2-3 hours, and, yes, lots of nappy changes. Initially your baby will grow fast and learn a lot. Your baby will love cuddles, sleeping, sucking and wanting to be near you all the time. The time that you spend with them will help their brain development as they start to experience the world.
Your baby will probably cry a lot because of hunger or a dirty nappy. Give them lots of cuddles, and eventually this phase will eventually pass.
Most babies can recognise their parents faces, so they will be looking at you very carefully for a long period of time. Don't forget you are their favourite person on earth at that point.
Newborn babies skin is ultra sensitive up to 2 years old. Make sure you choose products do not have any chemicals. Even 100% cotton clothing have harmful substances that might effect your baby's skin.
As per my personal experience, I always choose organic cotton and bamboo baby clothing as it does not have any harmful substances.
Milestones:
- Reflexes like grasping and rooting.
- Sleeping 16-18 hours a day (not in one go, of course!)
Care Tips:
- Swaddle your baby in a Bebekish Muslin Swaddle to mimic the coziness of the womb. Our swaddles are made from the softest muslin, gentle on your baby’s delicate skin.
- Choose Bebekish Organic Clothes to keep your baby comfortable and protect their sensitive skin from irritation.
