The Journey of Bamboo Manufacturing Process

At Bebekish, we believe in crafting products that are as gentle on the earth as they are on your baby.

We collaborate closely with local farmers who practice sustainable farming methods. These methods include rotating crops to maintain soil health and using natural irrigation techniques. This not only supports the health of the bamboo but also ensures that the local ecosystem is preserved and biodiversity is maintained.

Transparency in our supply chain is key. We ensure that every step, from the harvesting to the processing of the bamboo, is done with the utmost care for the environment and with respect for the local communities involved. By choosing Bebekish, our customers are supporting a chain of sustainability that extends from our eco-conscious bamboo fields to their homes.

This commitment begins with our unique, eco-conscious method of transforming bamboo into the soft, sustainable fabric you love. Here’s how we do it:

Sustainable Harvesting:

The First Step

Our journey begins in the lush, green bamboo forests, where we selectively harvest mature bamboo stalks. This method of harvesting allows the bamboo to regenerate quickly, minimising our environmental footprint. Bamboo is one of the fastest growing plant on Earth, which some species grow 1.5 inches per hour.

Cutting bamboo actually stimulates growth. Instead of using its energy to regain the lost height, a cut bamboo stalk will simply unfurl new leaves.

These leaves, in turn, create and send more energy down to its roots to encourage the growth of new shoots. The more that gets harvested, the faster bamboo grows. That makes bamboo an incredible renewable resource that can be sustainably harvested.

We ensure that no pesticides or harmful chemicals are used, maintaining the natural purity of our bamboo.

Keeping it Natural

Once harvested, the bamboo undergoes a process that is both simple and revolutionary:

Crushing the Bamboo: The harvested bamboo is turned into dried pulp. The crushed bamboo is then treated with natural enzymes. These enzymes break down the bamboo into a soft, pulpy substance, allowing us to extract the natural fibres without the use of harmful chemicals.

Combing and Spinning: The natural fibres are carefully combed out and spun into yarn. This crucial step transforms the raw bamboo fibres into the soft, durable yarn that is the foundation of our Bebekish fabrics.

Crafting the Bebekish Signature Fabric

The long bamboo fibres are then washed and dried. With the bamboo yarn in hand, our artisans weave magic. Whether it’s creating 100% bamboo fabric or blending it with organic cotton, we ensure each fabric maintains the hypoallergenic, breathable qualities that make bamboo so special.

The sustainable closed-loop production of Lyocell recycles more than 99% of the water and the solvent used to spin the cellulose. This reduces the water required to process the fabric by more than 500x compared to cotton. The final product is fully bio-degradable with almost zero waste.

Quality Assurance: Our Promise to You

Every batch of our bamboo fabric is rigorously tested for quality and sustainability. We ensure that from harvest to yarn, our processes meet the highest standards of eco-friendliness and ethical production.
